Burn recovery support

Complementary care, coordinated with your burns or wound-care team

Burn recovery is complex and can be challenging. The right support depends on the nature of your injury, the condition of your skin and scar, any procedures you have had, and the plan set by your treating team.

Sano does not manage burns in isolation. Zoe supports people who are already working with a burns service, wound-care team or other relevant healthcare provider. With your consent, any care at Sano is planned in consultation and collaboration with that team, so it complements—not competes with—your medical treatment.

Treatment begins only when it is appropriate for your stage of healing and your current team is comfortable for it to do so.

A shared plan for complex recovery

Burn treatment can involve many decisions about wound healing, surgery, grafts, prescribed garments, medication, movement and ongoing scar management. Those decisions remain with your burns or wound-care team.

Before treatment, Zoe will take time to understand your current care plan, symptoms and priorities. Medical clearance may be requested, and—with your consent—Zoe can communicate with your treating clinicians to make sure her care aligns with their recommendations.

If there are any unexpected changes in your skin, wound, pain, swelling or general wellbeing, your treating team remains your first point of contact.

What you can work towards with Sano

Your goals may be practical: moving more comfortably, getting dressed, returning to work or sport, or managing the day without your scar feeling constantly present. They may also be personal: feeling more at ease in your body and more confident in the way you care for your skin and scar.

Sano offers a supportive space to work towards those goals, while keeping your burns or wound-care team at the centre of your recovery.

Your first appointment

You do not need to know which treatment you need before you come in. Bring any discharge information, care plan, prescribed products or questions you have. Zoe will listen to what you are experiencing, confirm what is appropriate, and work with you and your clinical team on the next step.
